Who am I, and what am I doing here?

Music has been a significant part of my life since I first placed my hands on a classical guitar in 2009. After seven years of secondary education in music at the Anatolian Fine Arts High School of Nicosia, where I graduated in 2019, I continued my musical studies at the University of Surrey, completing my undergraduate degree in Music in 2022.

I completed my Master’s degree in Music at the University of Surrey with distinction in November 2024, where I explored the evolutionary roots of music through birdsong and non-human musicality. I am now a PhD student in Music at the University of Surrey. My research focuses on the musical syntax of birdsong, especially the patterned sequences of syllables and rests in Bengalese finch song. By combining musicological analysis, birdsong research, and compositional practice, I aim to understand how recurring patterns and probabilistic continuations in birdsong can inform new ways of analysing and creating music.

Alongside my research, I work as a tutor affiliated with Guildford Music School, where I teach piano and classical guitar. I continue to develop my work as a researcher, musician, and teacher, with a particular interest in how music can connect human creativity with the natural world. This website brings together the ideas, sounds, projects, and questions that shape my musical journey.
